City Manager Joseph R. Pace
Mr. Pace began his employment as the City Manager of the City of Wharton on June 15, 2021. Mr. Pace’s background includes serving three (3) years in the United States Army Infantry, obtaining both a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Lamar University-Beaumont, and a Graduate Certificate in Urban & Regional Planning from the University of Texas-El Paso (UTEP).
He holds several professional certifications including International City Manager Association-Credentialed Manager (ICMA-CM), Certified Public Manager (CPM) from the Hobby School of Public Affairs at the University of Houston, and Professional Community Economic Developer (PCED) through the Community Development Institute (CDI) at Lone Star College. He has completed numerous leadership trainings during his tenure in city government including the Oxford Executive Leadership Program through the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford.
Mr. Pace is a proud full member of the International City Manager's Association (ICMA), Texas City Management Association (TCMA) and TCMA Region 6, American Planning Association (APA), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
