The Wharton City Council is seeking people to serve on the following boards and commissions: Beautification City Commission, Building Standards Commission, Holiday Light Decorating Chairman, and Mayor’s Committee on People with Disabilities.  If you are interested in serving on any of these boards, committees or commissions, please contact City Secretary Paula Favors at City Hall, 979-532-2491 ext. 225 or via email at pfavors@cityofwharton.com

Wharton Citizens Police Academy

Chief Tim Guin and the members of the Wharton Police Department would like to invite you to attend the Wharton Citizens Police Academy.

The purpose of the Academy is to provide the citizens with a better understanding of the daily operation of your Police Department. The class hours are 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. every Wednesday evening for 14 weeks.

During the 14-week course you will be exposed to many areas of law enforcement.  You will have the opportunity to:

  • Ride with an on duty Patrol Officer.
  • Witness how emergency calls are received and dispatched.
  • Witness Detectives investigate crimes, and
  • Observe Crime Scene Technicians collect evidence.

Join the citizens who have graduated our Academy by completing the application and return it by Monday, June 27, 2011 at 5:00pm. Applications should be forwarded to Wharton Police Department, 1407 N.
