It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Wharton Police Department website. Our goal is to provide you with the most current updated information about our department, crime prevention information and useful crime statistics. We recognize that in order to be successful, we must form partnerships within the community and maintain and open productive exchange of information therefore we hope you find this site to be informative and user friendly.

The City of Wharton is situated in Wharton County about 50 miles south of Houston, Texas along US 59. The population was estimated at 9,300 in the last census.

The Wharton Police Department is comprised of 23 dedicated professional sworn officers and 11 additional civilian positions. As a department we place a high emphasis on making certain that our community is a safe and pleasant place to live, work, and play. The officers of the Wharton Police Department are dedicated to the highest levels of integrity and professionalism and pledge to continue to strive to enhance the quality of life for the citizens they serve and the visitors who pass through.
